Alonso responds to Real Madrid links
Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has spoken about the possibility of taking over as Real Madrid coach in the coming period if current coach Carlo Ancelotti leaves. Alonso said in the press conference for the match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League: "The affection between me and Real Madrid has not been cut off. This is an unforgettable relationship and I am very grateful for that and I have a very strong relationship with them until now." Regarding his career as a player with the royal team, the Bayer Leverkusen coach explained: "It was a very beautiful period for me as a player, full of challenges and successes.. We fought to get what we wanted and there were wonderful celebrations." He continued in the press conference: "I cannot tell you anything. We are in the middle of the season and all clubs have big goals." He continued his statements: "The rumours do not bother me or surprise me and I am ready for them. Being nominated to coach Real Madrid is a great honour for me, but I am only focused on the match against Atletico Madrid. A big task awaits us."
