Walid Abdullah reveals how Ronaldo was influenced by Islam

Walid Abdullah, goalkeeper of the Saudi Al-Nasr team, revealed that his Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo was influenced by Islam and his great love for prayer, indicating his constant keenness to learn more about the Islamic religion. In statements reported by the Saudi “Al-Riyadhiyah” channel, Abdullah said that he had previously spoken with Ronaldo about Islam and the possibility of converting to it, and explained that one time Ronaldo prostrated on the ground, and all the players chanted: “Allahu Akbar.” Abdullah added: “Ronaldo always wonders about prayer, and when he sees one of the players not praying, he asks him why he doesn’t pray? He also asks about the names of prayers. When he hears the call to prayer during training, he asks the coach to stop the training.” Abdullah concluded his speech by saying: “Ronaldo is a very disciplined and committed person, and it is impossible for him to reach this position without possessing these qualities.” Although Cristiano Ronaldo is a Christian, his name has been linked on more than one occasion to the possibility of his converting to Islam, especially after his transfer to the Saudi Al-Nasr club about two years ago. It is worth noting that previous reports had indicated that Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammates, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema, had tried to convince him to convert to Islam before his move to Al-Nassr in the winter of 2023 after the end of his contract with Manchester United.
