Barcelona considers renewing Lewandowski's contract
Barcelona are reportedly considering extending the contract of striker Robert Lewandowski, despite being linked with both Erling Haaland and Victor Gyokeris in the upcoming transfer window. The 36-year-old's contract with the Catalan club expires next summer, but Sport reports that Barcelona are planning to activate a clause in his contract that allows him to extend it for an additional year. According to the report, Lewandowski's contract could be extended until 2027. The move comes days after reports linked Barcelona with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, 24, and Sporting Lisbon star Victor Gyokeris, 26. Despite the club's desire to strengthen its attack, Barcelona's financial challenges could make it difficult to sign these distinguished players in the near term. On the other hand, Lewandowski continues to shine for Barcelona, having scored 20 goals in 18 games this season, which contributes to the club's consideration of keeping him for a longer period as a temporary solution to its financial problems. Regarding Lewandowski's future, the newspaper confirmed that Barcelona is also looking for a long-term successor to the Polish striker in the coming years. Barcelona is preparing to meet the French team Brest in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, after its recent draw with Celta Vigo 2-2 in the Spanish League.
