City agree to Haaland's contract extension request

English: Manchester City are confident in their ability to extend the contract of their Norwegian striker Erling Haaland in the coming period, despite interest from Spanish football giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Manchester City had succeeded in obtaining the services of Haaland in the summer of 2022, coming from Borussia Dortmund in Germany, in a deal that cost the club 60 million euros. Since joining the team, Haaland has succeeded in proving himself as one of the best strikers in the world, after scoring 105 goals in 114 matches he played in various competitions, and winning many titles, and is linked to a contract with the club that lasts until the summer of 2027. The
English newspaper "Mirror" reported that Manchester City is confident in its ability to convince its star to sign a new contract, which will also include a penalty clause based on the player's desire. Although the club usually refuses to include penalty clauses in its players' contracts, in the case of Haaland, it has agreed to include a penalty clause in his current contract or in the new contract that is expected to be signed.
The newspaper explained that the issue has always been related to the penalty clause, which has not been removed in the new contract in any way. Indeed, Manchester City has accepted this, and it is expected that there will continue to be a penalty clause in the new contract for the Norwegian star, which is expected to be signed in the coming period.
The newspaper indicated that Manchester City hopes to adjust the timing of the activation of the penalty clauses. If the new contract is signed in the coming weeks or months, this means that the penalty clause will not be activated until the summer of 2026, instead of the summer of 2025.
