South African Football Association President Arrested
Danny Jordaan, the president of the South African Football Association, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday.
The South African Times reported that an arrest warrant was issued for Jordaan early Wednesday morning, with him being held on charges related to his use of his position at the football association for personal financial gain between 2014 and 2018.
According to the newspaper, Jordaan is accused of illegally obtaining 1.3 million South African rand.
In response to these charges, Jordaan has filed an application with the High Court of South Africa requesting an interdiction order, as he seeks to postpone the implementation of the order.
Jordaan is scheduled to be heard in the case next Thursday in court, after which he is expected to be sentenced.
