Guardiola's first comment after the farewell to the cup
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the team is going through a very difficult period due to the injuries it has suffered recently. The Citizens were eliminated from the EFL Cup in the round of 16 after losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at the latter's stadium. Guardiola spoke in the press conference after the match: "It was a difficult match, especially with their counterattacks, but I am very proud and happy with the way we played." He added: "We have only 13 players, we are going through real difficulties, but we have to work hard in the last week, even the players who played against Tottenham and completed the match, some of them have problems, we will see later how they recover." Guardiola continued his statements, saying: "For 9 seasons we have not gone through such circumstances with injuries, I think that when we are in such a crisis, the players take a step forward, the team becomes more cohesive than ever, we will try to do that this week in this short time to recover." Regarding Gvardiol's injury, the Spanish coach said: "I don't know why I spoke to him. Everyone was at the table for the massage session. The situation is crowded and everyone is busy, so I don't know."
