Super League project to launch in September 2025
Media reports revealed a shocking surprise regarding the "Super League" project, which is aimed at establishing many of the giant clubs in Europe. The Spanish newspaper AS said that "the controversial project is scheduled to launch in September 2025." It explained that "the president of the European Super League revealed more information about the ambitious football project." It stated that "Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22, the company responsible for the European Super League, confirmed in an interview with the German magazine Kicker, that preparations are underway to launch the new competition." It added that "Reichart, the German CEO appointed for the project, stated that reducing the costs of television broadcasting rights and providing an improved product are the main goals, indicating that new technologies and business models are being explored, noting that football fans deserve a better and more expensive viewing experience." Reichert, who previously led RTL before joining the Real Madrid-led project, criticised the current Champions League format, saying it had not lived up to expectations, citing recent lopsided results such as Bayern’s 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb and Borussia Dortmund’s 7-1 win over Celtic as examples. “From our point of view, matches are more attractive when everything is at stake and the teams compete on equal terms, which is why we are supporting the traditional league format with home and away matches followed by a play-off,” he said. The newspaper concluded that according to reliable sources, the possible start date for the competition has been set as September 2025.
