Thomas Tuchel is England manager
Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract to become the new England manager, Sky Sports News has reported. Tuchel, who led Chelsea to the Champions League title in 2021, is the third foreign manager to take charge of England after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello. Tuchel will take charge of the national team after Gareth Southgate resigned following England's defeat to Spain in the European Championship final in July. Interim manager Lee Carsley has been in charge on an interim basis for the past three months. Tuchel, 51, has not managed a team since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season, with the Bavarian club finishing third in the Bundesliga. The FA are set to hold a press conference at Wembley on Wednesday to announce the details of Tuchel's contract. The new challenge represents an opportunity for Tuchel to deliver England's first major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.
