A team from the SC visits Qatari Family Majlis ahead of the opening of Al -Thumama Stadium

A team from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy visited a number of Qatari family majlis in Al Thumama district, with the aim of informing the residents of the plans related to the opening of Al -Thumama World Cup Stadium in conjunction with the Emir Cup final on October 22.
The Higher Committee team was chaired by Mr. Khaled Ali Al-Mawlawi, Chief of Tournament Experience at SC, along with Engineer Jassim Talfat, Executive Director of Sports Facilities at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy. During the visit, he touched on a range of issues related to the announcement of the stadium’s readiness, as well as temporary changes that will be witnessed by the roads in the surrounding area, and concerted efforts with various parties in the State to find alternative ways to facilitate the movement of the population on the day of the match.
Al-Mawlawi stressed the great importance of Community engagement as one of the main pillars of the work of the Supreme Committee, and its keenness to involve community members, citizens and residents of Qatar, in the preparation journey for the World Cup, to contribute an active role in the success of this global event. 
Al-Mawlawi praised the unique design of Al Thumama Stadium, which was initiated by Qatari engineer, Ibrahim Al Jaidah. Al-Mawlawi indicated that the new Stadium carries a special symbolism for the residents of Al -Thumama inspired by the “gahfiya”, a traditional cap worn by men in many Arab countries for centuries, which reflects a valuable aspect of Qatari culture.
Al-Mawlawi added: "There is no doubt that the residents of Al Thumama district would feel proud when they see a tall sports edifice inspired by the rich heritage of the State of Qatar and the region, which adds more privacy to the stadium, so that it will remain a source of pride in the long term after the World Cup competitions come to an end."
On his part, Mr. Khalid Mohamed al-Suwaidi, Stakeholder Relations Senior Manager at the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy, said that liaise with the Qatari family Majlis is a pivotal element in all stages of preparation for hosting the World Cup, beginning with the construction stages of stadiums, and passing through the preparation for sporting events, including the final of the most valuable cups.
Al-Suwaidi added: "We are keen to listen to the opinions and feedback of the Qatari community through direct engagement, and exchange consultation regarding the activities that take place in their immediate surroundings, and accordingly we take deliberate decisions in cooperation with all authorities in the country to serve the public interest."
For their part, a number of Qatari families Majlis praised the efforts of the Supreme Committee in facilitating the procedures that Al -Thumama will witness during the inauguration of the World Cup stadium, stressing the positive results of the visit of the Supreme Committee team, and the important information provided on the preparations for the area surrounding the stadium in the coming days.
Al -Thumama Stadium, which can accommodate more than 40,000 fans, is considered the sixth completed World Cup stadium after Khalifa International Stadium also known as National Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Education City Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, and Al Bayt Stadium located at Al-Khor, the coastal city in northern Qatar.
