beIN and La Liga extend partnership
beIN MEDIA GROUP, the global sports, media and entertainment group, has signed an agreement to extend the broadcast rights of La Liga matches, which will see beIN SPORTS, the group’s network, continue to hold the exclusive broadcast rights to the Spanish league in 34 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Asia Pacific (APAC) until the end of the 2027/28 and 2026/27 seasons respectively. beIN has held the rights to broadcast La Liga in the MENA region since 2003 and in the Asia Pacific region since 2015. Under the new agreement, the network will continue to broadcast La Liga’s top division matches exclusively on beIN SPORTS channels for 16 consecutive seasons in 23 countries across the MENA region. The network continues to hold the rights to broadcast all 380 La Liga matches, and has extended the media rights agreement to broadcast La Liga in Australia and New Zealand once again. Yousef Al-Obaidly, CEO of beIN MEDIA GROUP, said: “We are delighted to extend our exclusive broadcast rights agreement for La Liga and sign two multi-year broadcast agreements in 34 countries. Building on our long-standing and trusted partnership with La Liga, we are proud to contribute to the growth of Spanish football around the world, through our world-class broadcast and strong and reliable investment. This agreement is further evidence of beIN’s thoughtful and ongoing strategy to continue to grow and prosper as a leading sports, entertainment and media group worldwide.” Javier Tebas, President of La Liga, said: “We always seek to collaborate with the best partners and provide fans with the opportunity to watch La Liga matches everywhere. Our partnership with beIN has always been of great importance in enabling our fans in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia Pacific to enjoy the best possible experience watching La Liga matches, and we are confident that the upcoming seasons will offer an unprecedented experience for our fans in the region.” The exclusive agreement includes broadcasting La Liga matches in the following countries within the Middle East, North Africa and Asia Pacific region: Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, Yemen, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Australia and New Zealand. beIN also shares broadcasting rights in Iraq with the 1001 platform, an agreement that goes beyond broadcasting rights and addresses the issue of audiovisual fraud, as audiovisual fraud is an obstacle that threatens the development of this sector and the sports system, and has very negative consequences for clubs, organizations and broadcasting platforms. This prompted La Liga and beIN to launch joint initiatives to combat fraud in the field of audiovisual broadcasting, including blocking illegal broadcasting sites in Morocco, and disabling illegal IPTV broadcasting in Bahrain.
