Carvalho determined to shine with Liverpool
Fabio Carvalho is determined to use Liverpool's tour of America to force his way into Arne Slot's plans for next season. According to The Athletic, the 21-year-old striker returned to the club this summer after a mixed bag of form on loan in 2023-24. Having struggled for game time at RB Leipzig, he has regained his confidence at Hull City in the second half of the season, making 20 appearances in the Championship. Carvalho's future remains unclear, but he is relishing the start of a new era at Liverpool under Slot. "I've had a few conversations with the manager and I won't go into details, but he wants me to focus on working hard, working hard and seeing where it takes me. It's about proving myself. There are good opportunities for all the young players on this journey. It's an opportunity for everyone to make their mark," the player added. "The time I spent at Hull was crucial. “I needed playing time and I was happy when I was playing regularly. Every footballer wants to play week in, week out. I feel like I got the best out of myself when I was there and playing.” Carvalho found himself playing on the left wing in Friday’s 1-0 win over Real Betis in Pittsburgh, but he admitted he would prefer to play more in midfield. “We talked about it and (Slot) told me to try to settle in on the wing, but obviously I know where I play best and I feel like that’s the No. 10 position,” Carvalho said. “I think I play best there. I’m just going to do what he wants me to do and work as hard as I can for him. He gives me good instructions and motivates me a lot in training and gives me confidence.” “It was good to play against Betis and get some touches, it’s good to be back playing. I feel like the coach’s style suits all of us. I feel like he plays positive football, he likes to create chances and that’s what we’ve been doing.”
