Accident sends Manchester player to hospital
Manchester United full-back Tyrell Malacia has been taken to hospital after colliding with a suspected drink-driving driver earlier this month, according to reports. The Dutchman was travelling in a Range Rover owned by his Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford, who was in a separate car behind him when the incident occurred. The left-back missed the entire previous season with a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for the start of the new campaign with the same issue. The incident occurred on July 16 in Wilmslow, Cheshire, before the Red Devils headed to the United States for their pre-season tour. According to The Sun, a black Mercedes hit Rashford's car and the driver, a 55-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. The report added that Malacia and his unnamed friend were taken to hospital as a precaution but were allowed to leave after doctors found they did not suffer any serious injuries. The players were photographed during Manchester United training the following day.
