Guardiola Enters The List Of Candidates To Coach England

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been named in the running to succeed Gareth Southgate as England coach, after Southgate resigned following the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Germany. The Independent reported that the English Football Association is looking to appoint Guardiola as England's national team coach. The association is seeking to persuade the Spanish coach to take over after his contract with Manchester City expires in the summer of 2025. The FA's move comes as part of their desire to appoint a coach who understands the culture of the national team, which suits Guardiola perfectly after he spent eight years in England and coached many local players. The newspaper also indicated that the FA is considering appointing an interim coach until Guardiola's contract with Manchester City expires. There is a feeling within the club's management that their Spanish coach will not renew his contract and will leave in the summer of 2025, especially since Guardiola has previously expressed his interest in trying out international coaching. It is noteworthy that Guardiola has achieved great success with Manchester City since taking over the team in 2016, as he led the team to achieve many local and European championships, which makes him an ideal choice to lead the Three Lions in the coming period.
