Officially.. Muller Hangs Up His International Boots

German star Thomas Muller has officially announced his retirement from international football, following the end of the 2024 European Nations Cup, and the exit of the Mannschaft team in the quarter-finals. Muller said via his official account on the "Instagram" website: "I have always been proud to represent my country and I want to thank everyone," adding: "I hope the team succeeds in reaching the 2026 World Cup finals as a fan but not as a player on the pitch, goodbye and see you soon." The Bayern Munich star played 131 matches with the German national team, scoring 45 goals and winning the World Cup in 2014. The 34-year-old player participated as a substitute in the European Championship this summer, where he played 56 minutes over two matches, but failed to lead the Mannschaft to glory as they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Spain. Muller won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, and won the 2010 World Cup top scorer award after scoring five goals. Thomas participated in 4 World Cups: 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022, while on the other hand, he played in 3 Euros: 2012, 2016 and 2021.
