Georgia have made history by qualifying for the round of 16 of Euro 2024 after beating Portugal 2-0 in the third round of the group stage of Euro 2024. Georgia have qualified for the knockout stage of a major international tournament for the first time in their history, having collected four points in Group F (one win, one draw and one loss). Georgia became the first European country to qualify from the group stage of their first major tournament (World Cup/European Championship) since Iceland at Euro 2016. Georgia inflicted Portugal's first official defeat since December 2022 (0-1 against Morocco, World Cup 2022) and coach Roberto Martinez's first defeat with the "Brazil of Europe", having won all 12 of their previous matches under him.
