Use Of The Pink Card In Copa America 2024

The highly anticipated 2024 Copa America, which will be hosted by the United States, will see referees use the pink card for the first time in football history. Unlike the yellow and red cards, the pink card will not be used to punish players, and the arena referee will raise the pink card if a player is hit in the head and is believed to have suffered a concussion. The pink card will authorize the team that includes the injured player to substitute him, even if the team has already used up all five of its substitutions. The regulations stipulate that a player who leaves the field with a pink card is not allowed to return later in the match, as he is required to go to the locker room or the hospital.
