The Atalanta Star Makes History In The European League
Nigerian Ademola Lookman, the Italian Atalanta striker, set many records after scoring a historic hat-trick to lead his team to win the European League title at the expense of German rival Bayer Leverkusen in the final of the current edition of the competition. The global "Opta" network reported that Lookman became the first player to score a hat-trick in the Europa League final since Jupp Heynckes with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 5-1 win over Twente in the second leg of the 1974/1975 final. She added that the Nigerian international striker became the first African player to score a hat-trick in a European championship final. Lookman also became the second player to score a hat-trick with an Italian team in the final of a major European tournament, after Pierino Prati with Milan against Ajax in the 1969 European Cup.
