Barcelona Completes The Spanish Super Cup
The sides of the Spanish Super Cup square are complete, after Barcelona won second place in the La Liga standings. Barcelona officially took second place in the Spanish League, after achieving a major victory over its counterpart, Rayo Vallecano, by three clean goals, during the match that brought the two teams together on Sunday evening at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium, as part of the matches of the thirty-seventh round of the Spanish League competitions. Barcelona secured second place in the Spanish League standings with 82 points, 4 points behind third-placed Girona with one round to go. Barcelona qualified for the next edition of the Spanish Super Cup, which will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the beginning of next year in January 2025. Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup. On the other hand, Real Madrid, the defending champion and La Liga champion, will play against Real Mallorca in the other semi-final match. The rules of the competition stipulate that the Spanish League champion will meet against the Spanish King’s Cup runner-up, and the Spanish King’s Cup winner will face the second-placed team in La Liga.
