Pochettino Comments On The Possibility Of Mourinho Succeeding Him!

Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino responded to reports about Jose Mourinho succeeding him at Chelsea, after his “difficult” first season at the club. A number of Chelsea fans booed Pochettino at the Getek Stadium last week during the club's 2-2 draw against Brentford. However, the Argentine manager claimed he still feels the love at Stamford Bridge while addressing rumors of Mourinho replacing him. The Blues coach said in statements published by the Goal International website: “Today is a different project, it is a different Chelsea. If you were to judge us by analyzing the situation and comparing it to Chelsea’s past, it is certain that no one will succeed.” He added: "The fans will not love another coach more than me. It is a new project, and people have to understand." When asked if he was thinking about resigning from his position, the coach immediately replied: “No, no, no. Why? Never.” Mourinho has been without a job since his dismissal from coaching Roma last January, and there has been speculation about the Portuguese's return to Chelsea for a third term. When asked about the possibility of appointing Mourinho as Chelsea coach, Pochettino said: “I respect Jose. He is my friend and he has been great for this club. Circumstances are circumstances. We need to keep pressing, believe in ourselves and accept everyone. The things that come from the fans, of course I respect the fans.” He continued: “You have to ask the players, if the players think they would work better with another coach, I am the first to say: ‘Hey, they can go and talk to the owner and the sporting director.’” The Argentina coach added: “Do you see me worried about this? no. Look, is the behavior a problem? no. Players are smart enough; You can see in the way they act and everything they have behind us.” He concluded: “There is no doubt, I came here because I knew it would be difficult but I also knew that we would need time and faith.”
