La Liga: Villarreal's Algerian Mandi saves Atletico Madrid from a Certain Defeat

Villarreal's Algerian defender Issa Mandi saved Atletico Madrid from a decisive defeat, after an astonishing own goal in the final seconds against its guest Villarreal in the third round of the Spanish Football League.
Villarreal took the lead on 52 minutes, with Yeremi Pino's excellent darting run from the right setting up Manuel Trigueros to sweep home from the edge of the box. Suárez without a shot in the first half and completed only six of eight passes, but slack defending from a harmless throw-in enabled him to open his account for the season with a right-footed 56th-minute equalizer.
Villarreal refused to lie down and pounced on an error on 74 minutes to move back in front. A long ball down the middle did not look to carry any danger, but Atletico failed to deal with it. Pino showed excellent feet to steal the ball and slip in Arnaut Danjuma to slam home.
Villarreal had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Atlético Madrid on Sunday after defender Issa Mandi headed the ball into his own net in the last minute of stoppage time at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. The match was led by Spain referee César Soto Grado
