Punches Between Fans In The “England Cup”

Wolverhampton won over its host West Bromwich Albion, in a derby match, with a score of 2-0 in the fourth round of the “English Football Cup” competition, but that came after violent confrontations in the stands. Referee Thomas Bramall stopped the match in the second half, when fans stormed the field at a time when a major problem was occurring in one of its corners, as one of the fans appeared while trying to remove him from the problem with a bloody head. The problem came in the first meeting between the two arch rivals in the presence of fans in 12 years, and it broke out violently after Brazilian Matheus Cunha gave Wolverhampton a 2-0 lead in the 78th minute. It appeared that a number of West Brom fans had attacked Wolverhampton fans who were sitting in a section designated for fans of the home team. . Immediately, the police and security personnel in the stadium headed towards the places where the clashes took place, as punches were exchanged between the fans. The two teams left to the changing room, before returning later to complete the match. It is certain that West Bromwich will face sanctions from the League over its handling of the clashes, amid question marks about how Wolverhampton fans will obtain entry tickets that were originally intended for West Bromwich fans.
