UEFA Super Cup: Chelsea crowned the European Super Cup champion at the expense of Villarreal

Chelsea won the European Super Cup after beating Villarreal on penalties 6-5, after the end of regular time and extra time with a 1-1 draw. Chelsea opened the scoring via Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech after a perfect cross from his German counterpart Kai Havertz in the 27th minute of the match, which was held at “Windsor Park” in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and was moderated by the Russian referee Sergey Karasev.
Ziyech left the field in the 42nd minute after an injury to his right shoulder and his American colleague Christian Pulisic took his place.The first half ended with the Blues advancing with one goal back. Villarreal waited until the 73rd minute to score the equalizer via star Gerard Moreno. The original time of the match ended in a 1-1 draw, so the two teams resorted to two extra times not leading to a goal, to decide on penalties, which made the England team smile 6-5.
