Valverde Tells The Story Of His Signing With Real Madrid

Fede Valverde, the Real Madrid midfielder, told the story of his move to the Real Madrid ranks in 2016, coming from the Uruguayan ranks of Penarol. In 2016, the Royal Club signed an 18-year-old Uruguayan midfielder, but a few years later, the Royal Club officials proved that they were right when they knocked on the door of the Valverde family. Valverde said in statements published by the newspaper "Marca": "I was playing the Copa America U-17 tournament in Paraguay when I received the call that changed my life. I was sitting in my hotel room, and my parents were staying in another room." He added: "My mother said to me, 'Hey, come into the room now, there are people here who want to talk to you. Fede, come now, these guys are from Real Madrid.'" He continued: "I thought she was joking. I rushed into the room to see what was happening, and there were two men whom I had never seen before. There were tears in her eyes. The men started speaking in Castilian, not in Spanish in South America, and I said they were not from here." He pointed out: “They told me: We are Real Madrid. We believe that you can become a star for us. We want you and your parents to move to Madrid. I looked at my mother. I looked at my agent and said, ‘No, you are kidding me.’ My mother said, ‘Shut up, Fed, we don’t.’” "We're just kidding you." He continued: "There are 500,000 players in the world and Madrid wants to sign me? What? I literally ran out of room, I was screaming: 'Where is my father?' I have to tell my father!" I went downstairs and my father was talking to one of the other fathers. I said: "Dad!!!! Dad!!!"Madrid is here!" He said: "What? What do you mean, they are there? Where?" I said upstairs, in the room! They want to sign me! Real Madrid wants to sign me!” He concluded: “He looked at me like I was the craziest person in the world and said: ‘Upstairs in the bedroom? Well, what are you doing here? Get back there, you idiot!!!’” "I ran back to the room, and fortunately the Real Madrid guys were still there. It wasn't just a dream, it was the first perfect day of my life."
