Fiorentina stands firm amidst Saudi takeover interest!

An Italian press report stated that investors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are interested in buying Fiorentina. Investors from Saudi Arabia are reportedly interested in purchasing Fiorentina, but the club’s American owners have no plans to sell. Italian-American billionaire Rocco Commisso purchased the Viola for around €160m back in June 2019 and has started to build an interesting project over the last four years, reaching the Europa Conference League final under coach Vincenzo Italiano last term. Commisso has overseen the development of a new high-tech training ground, called Viola Park, and also tried to navigate the waters of Italian bureaucracy to build a new stadium, with little success. As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, a group of Saudi investors are keen to take over Fiorentina, wanting to enter the world of Italian football. They are being assisted by former Italy Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who has denied his involvement. The Viola quickly responded to the reports, stating that “they want to destabilize us a few hours before the match against Lazio,” making clear that they had no interest in a sale. The owners are looking to continue their investment in the club, keen to push the project forward. Under Renzi's management, the team reached the final of the European Conference League last season, led by coach Vincenzo Italiano. Fiorentina's owners quickly responded to reports of the club's sale, confirming that they had no interest in selling.
