Saudi-English to have earmarked Mitchell as their top candidate!
Manchester United is said to have earmarked Paul Mitchell, the sporting director of the French club Monaco, as part of an expected administrative revolution within the Red Devils’ castle, as their top candidate and approached him for the first time in March. The search is being led by the INEOS group, backed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is poised to complete a partial takeover at Old Trafford, per journalist Ben Jacobs. The British newspaper “The Sun” said: that Mitchell is a target for many Saudi clubs, and he is highly regarded as their new sporting director. However, it does not seem that the matter will be easy, especially in light of Saudi clubs seeking to sign Mitchell. With a new owner of the club's shares, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, it seems that an administrative revolution is on the way, which will at least oust the Red Devils' CEO, Richard Arnold, and sporting director, John Murtaugh. British billionaire Ratcliffe appears to have identified Mitchell as an ideal candidate to help oversee recruitment at the club. On the other hand, a group of Saudi clubs are seeking to develop contracting processes and place worthwhile hands in such roles, and Mitchell fits this project. Mitchell (42 years old) was a player in a number of small English clubs, such as Wigan Athletic, Milton Keynes Dons, Swindon Town, and Barnet, before he retired in late 2008, and began directly practicing administrative work from Milton Keynes Downs, where he assumed the task of contract manager. This is the same job he held at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur later, before working as sporting director for the German club Leipzig, and then assuming the position of sporting director for the French club Monaco three years ago. Throughout his tenure, Mitchell played a vital role in bringing great players to the clubs he worked for, such as Sadio Mane, Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, Kieran Terpier and Matheus Cunha.
