Will Messi leave Inter Miami in January?
Argentine star Lionel Messi posts emotional Instagram message to Inter Miami fans after he played his last match with his American team this season. Messi wrote a message to the people of Miami thanking them for “incredible moments together” in a post on his Instagram account. The Argentine captained the side as they won the Leagues Cup, got to the final of the US Open Cup, and almost made the MLS 2023 playoffs, with Messi shooting to the top of the statistics charts in most areas of the game. The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner was unable to feature in the majority of Inter Miami’s games towards the end of the campaign as injury struck the player while on international duty. During this time, The Herons suffered a dip in form and ultimately their playoff hopes fizzled out with a Decision Day defeat to Charlotte FC. A day after the fate of the MLS was sealed, Messi took to social media to make his thoughts and feelings on the season heard. “I’m proud of everything that this team has achieved this season”, he wrote. “With hard work and effort from everyone, we were able to win Leagues Cup 2023, getting the first-ever title in Inter Miami’s history, we got to the final of Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and we were even fighting for the MLS playoffs practically until the last minute”, said the message to the fans.
“We remember all the good things”, Messi’s post continued, “and above all with the desire to improve to be even more competitive next year. I’d like to thank everyone at the club and the city of Miami for the support that they always give us. I’m sure that we’ll keep having incredible moments together just like what we had in the past few months. A hug to everyone!” Inter Miami is about to embark on a post-season tour which will take place in China. The MLS side will go up against Qingdao Hainiu and Chengdu Roncheng in November, in what is surely going to be an incredibly lucrative event for all involved. For his part, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Argentine star Lionel Messi has never considered any loan deal between now and February, despite his links to Barcelona.
