Vinicius hails Sevilla for expelling a fan from the stadium for racist behavior

The series of racism continues against the Brazilian star, Vinicius Junior, a Real Madrid player, during his team's match that included Sevilla in the Spanish League matches. Vinicius was subjected to racism from a Seville fan in the stands during Seville's match against Real Madrid after he was exposed to it many times last season. Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior said he saw racist abuse by a “child” during his team’s 1-1 draw at Sevilla on Saturday in La Liga. Sevilla expelled a supporter for “racist and xenophobic behavior”, the club said in a statement, with Vinicius thanking them for their quick action, as well as highlighting another incident. Spanish newspaper Marca ran photographs of a man appearing to make monkey gestures in the direction of the Brazil winger after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland. Sevilla ejected a fan from its Spanish league match against Real Madrid and filed a complaint with police after the spectator allegedly displayed “xenophobic and racist behavior,” with Vinícius Júnior once again the target. In a statement Sevilla did not specify what the behavior was, or name any intended target, but the Madrid star, who is Black, later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during Saturday’s match. Vinícius, who has regularly faced racist abuse from rival fans, said it was “another sad episode for Spanish Football.” Sevilla’s statement was issued shortly after it drew 1-1 with Madrid at its Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville. “Congratulations to Sevilla for their quick positioning (on the incident) and punishment in yet another sad episode for Spanish football,” wrote Vinicius. “Unfortunately, I had access to a video of another racist gesture in Saturday’s match, this time carried out by a child. “I am very sorry there is no one to educate you. I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to help form citizens with different attitudes to these.”
