Neymar: “It’s a very sad moment, the worst of my life”.
Brazilian Al Hilal star Neymar, whose career with Saudi Al Hilal faltered at the beginning, after he suffered a serious knee injury with his country against Uruguay in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, described it as the worst and saddest moment of his life.
Neymar: “It’s a very sad moment, the worst of my life”. “I know I’m strong… but this time I need the support of my family and my friends”. “It’s not easy to get injured, undergo surgery, and then… do it again just four months later. I have faith, I leave it in God’s hands”. Wish him a speedy recovery. Neymar has penned an emotional message to fans as he admitted he is in his 'worst moment' after rupturing his ACL and meniscus. The superstar was injured during Brazil's shock defeat to Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night. He went down after a tackle by Nicolas de la Cruz in first-half injury time and eventually had to be taken off the pitch on a stretcher. Without him, Brazil would go on to lose their clash with Marcelo Bielsa's men, with De la Cruz adding a second goal to Darwin Nunez's opener. It was confirmed on Wednesday that Neymar had torn his ACL, which will put him out of action for a substantial amount of time. In response to that news, Neymar has published an emotional statement opening up on his feelings about his injury. Though he insisted he still had "faith", the Brazilian attacker admitted he had hit a personal low. "It's a very sad moment, the worst. I know I'm strong but this time I'm going to need my friends (family and friends) even more. It's not easy to go through injury and surgery," he wrote on social media. "Imagine going through it all again after 4 months of recovery. I have faith, too much… But I place the strength in God's hands so that he can renew mine. Thank you for the messages of support and affection." Neymar's club, Al-Hilal confirmed the severity of his injury on Wednesday, with the superstar having only joined the Saudi Pro League club in the summer. They also revealed he will soon undergo surgery. "Medical examinations revealed that Al-Hilal player Neymar Jr. suffered a tear in the cruciate ligament and cartilage. He will undergo surgery later, and a treatment program will be determined for the duration after the operation. Come back stronger," a club statement read. It is not yet known exactly how long Neymar will be sidelined but the usual prognosis for recovery from an ACL rupture or tear can be up to eight to 10 months. He has struggled with injuries over recent seasons. The 31-year-old missed two World Cup games last year after being injured in Brazil's opening games. He had also been sidelined for multiple months of his last two seasons with PSG because of different ankle injuries.
