Qatar begin Gold Cup in CONCACAF campaign with thrilling draw against Panama

Qatar and Panama split the points in an epic 3-3 draw in CONCACAF Gold Cup Group D play, which saw the sides combine for all six goals in a wild second half at Houston on Tuesday evening.
The first half ended without goals, but the second half was different, as Al-Annabi started with a 48th-minute goal from Qatar's Akram Afif .Three minutes later, Panama's Rolando Blackburn netted the first of his two tallies on a header in traffic off a corner kick set-up in the 51st minute.
In the 54rd minute Qatar again jumped ahead on a blast by Almoez Ali, but Panama evened things at 2-2 five minutes later on Blackburn's second in the 58th minute.
Both teams then scored on penalties, with Hasan Al Haydoos succeeding for Qatar in the 62nd minute before Panama's Eric Davis delivered in the 79th to make it 3-3.
After nearly two-hour weather delay to start the match in a wild 3-3 draw on Tuesday in CONCACAF Gold Cup play at BBVA Stadium in Houston.
Next Sunday, the Qatari team will face Grenada in the second round, while wrap up its first group matches with Honduras next Wednesday in the third round. The tournament is a new step for the Qatari team’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️, as the Asian champions continue to face opponents from all over the world after their participation in the Copa America in its previous edition, before appearing in the European qualifiers for the World Cup.
