Bayern affirms Upamecano picks up hamstring injury

In an official statement released on Wednesday, Bayern Munich revealed the nature of the injury suffered by its French defender, Dayot Upamecano. A scan has revealed that Dayot Upamecano suffered a muscle injury in his left hamstring during FC Bayern's Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg on Sunday, putting him out of action for the time being. However, fellow center-back Matthijs de Ligt has taken another step on the road to recovery: the Dutchman, who's been battling a knee problem recently, began running on the pitch again on Tuesday. Upamecano had left the French national team camp due to injury. Bayern's statement said: "X-rays revealed that Dayot Upamecano suffered a muscle injury in the left hamstring during Bayern Munich's match in the German League against Freiburg on Sunday, which kept him out of the field at the present time." Bayern Munich occupies third place in the German League standings, with 17 points, and leads Bayer Leverkusen, with 19 points.
