Bellingham Makes History as Real Madrid Secures UEFA Victory

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder once again stole the show as his 94th-minute winner was enough to secure a needed for Carlo Ancelotti’s side victory against Urs Fischer Union Berlin. Bellingham celebrated his status as one of the hottest properties in European football with a goal on his UEFA Champions League debut for the Spanish side. Bellingham became the youngest player to score the winning goal in the 90th minute with Real Madrid in the Champions League, and the youngest English player to do so in the tournament with any team. Bellingham also became the fourth player to score in his first match for Real Madrid in both the Spanish League and the Champions League in the twenty-first century, after Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, Isco in 2013, and Marco Asensio in 2016. Bellingham is the 6th English player to appear with Real Madrid in the Champions League, after Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, David Beckham, Michael Owen, and Jonathan Woodgate, noting that the arrival to the Royal ranks in the recent summer transfer period is the youngest of the six players.
