Argentina continued winning runs over Bolivia without Messi

The Argentine national team continued their winning run with a 3-0 victory over Bolivia in the second round of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, despite being without captain and talisman Lionel Messi.  Argentina rested captain Lionel Messi but they still made light work of Bolivia as they won 3-0 to claim their second victory of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday. Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring as early as the 31st minute of the game, running onto a low inswinger by Angel Di Maria. Di Maria sets up Nicolas Tagliafico for the second goal in the 42nd minute, and Nicolas Gonzalez closes off the scoring in the 83rd minute, assisted by Exequiel Palacios.  Angel Di Maria took over as captain in Messi's absence and shone, providing two assists before halftime. Argentina reaches the sixth point, after starting its campaign in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a difficult victory over Ecuador 1-0, while Bolivia remains without a score.
