A “Documentary” angers Matthews!

German legend Lothar Matthäus criticized the German Football Association for the broadcast date of the documentary about the German national team's exit from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, on Friday. He told the Münchener Merkur Zeitung newspaper on Thursday: “Can't they find a better date? This is the DFB model... The DFB should start opening its eyes.” The German Football Association later confirmed that it was not responsible for choosing the date for broadcasting the documentary and that the decision rests with the American company “Amazon”, which participated in the production of the film. Matthews explained: “Having a film team accompany you during the World Cup is not ideal in principle, but publishing the documentary at the present time when the results are not good... If I were in a position of responsibility, I would try to do this after the friendly confrontations.” The documentary, divided into four parts, will begin broadcasting on Friday, one day before the friendly match against Japan, which will be followed by another friendly match against France next Tuesday.
