Man City exploring move for Wolverhampton star

Manchester City is 'exploring' a move for highly-rated Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes, according to reports. Manchester City seeks to strengthen the team's midfield, before the current summer transfer market closes, at the end of this month, in light of the injury of its Belgian star, Kevin De Bruyne, who will be absent for several months. It's thought that Pep Guardiola sees the Portugal international as an alternative to West Ham star Lucas Paqueta, who looks set to remain at the London stadium. Man City made multiple big-money bids for Paqueta but negotiations have now collapsed, with the midfielder subject of an investigation into alleged betting breaches. According to reputed transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City is exploring the possibility of signing Nunes this summer. Romano indicated that City is targeting Portuguese midfielder Mateus Nunez from Wolverhampton, as a substitute for the Brazilian Lucas Paqueta deal, which failed because the player was accused of violating betting rules. Romano confirmed that Manchester City made its first offer to Wolverhampton to sign the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder, this summer, for 50 million euros, including incentives and bonuses. He pointed out that Manchester City agreed with the player on all personal terms in his contract with the club, pending a final agreement between the two clubs.
