Guardiola makes history with UEFA Super Cup win

Spain's Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola succeeded in leading Manchester City to win the European Super Cup for the first time in its history, to add a fourth title in 2023. Guardiola is now the first football manager to win the UEFA Super Cup with three different teams after the Citizens defeated Sevilla on Wednesday. The Spaniard watched as Manchester City beat Sevilla 5-4 via penalty shoot-out at the Karaiskakis Stadium. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, thanks to goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and Cole Palmer. Guardiola won his 4th European Super Cup, equalling Carlo Ancelotti as the manager with the most titles in this competition. Man City’s victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup means Guardiola has now won the trophy with the Premier League champions, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Guardiola is widely regarded as one of the best managers of the present generation. With Guardiola, Manchester City won the most titles during his coaching career with 15 titles, surpassing his previous record with Barcelona, with 14 titles, and raising the number of his titles in general to 36 titles, in 14 years.
