Juventus signs Valencia youngster Gonzalez until 2026
The Italian club Juventus announced signing the young Uruguayan arriving from Valencia Facundo Gonzalez, Spain, with a contract through 2026, with many anticipating that he will spend the 2023-24 season on loan, the most likely destination being in Salerno Salernitana (along with a few other of his new teammates). "Facundo Gonzalez is now a Juventus player, having signed a contract with the club until 2026," the Juventus statement said. After leaving Uruguay for Spain at the age of four, he joined Union Deportivo, before moving to Espanyol at the age of nine to begin his formal training. In July 2019, he arrived at Valencia at the age of sixteen and made 37 appearances for the second team, 17 of them last season. Juventus' statement continued, “Overall, the 2022-2023 campaign was a very positive season for Gonzalez, looking at both his club and international career. With Uruguay’s U-20 team, he was called up as part of his country’s squad for the World Cup that was held in Argentina, and Gonzalez’s Uruguay was finished as champions, with the 20-year-old playing all seven matches in central defense.
