PSG finally won the battle for Manuel 

After several comings and goings, PSG has finally won the battle for Manuel Ugarte's signature against Chelsea after the Premier League club dropped off the negotiations. Initially billed as one of PSG's first summer signings, the Manuel Ugarte saga had plenty of twists and turns in a short span of days.  Fabrizio Romano and L'Équipe's Loïc Tanzi have revealed that Manuel Ugarte (22) will sign a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain today. Foot Mercato and L'Équipe reported earlier today that PSG had beaten Chelsea in the race to sign the Sporting midfielder. PSG has offered Ugarte better conditions although negotiations are still ongoing between Sporting and Paris Saint-Germain regarding how the French organization will pay the release clause of €60m. Romano is reporting that Ugarte is already in Paris and is set to undergo a medical ahead of signing a contract, which will be signed today. Tanzi specifies that the Uruguayan will sign a five-year deal with the recently crowned Ligue 1 champions. Whilst Ugarte’s arrival at the Parc des Princes is set to be imminently confirmed, PSG is also closing in on the free transfer of Marco Asensio, whose Real Madrid contract expired at the end of the season. The 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder's current contract with Sporting Lisbon was scheduled to expire in the summer of 2026. PSG is working to conclude more than one deal after dispensing with the two stars, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, as it is close to including Marco Asensio, the former Real Madrid player. While the 22-year-old Uruguayan, under contract with the Portuguese club until 2026, was seemingly favoring a move to Chelsea to play in the Premier League, the London side eventually withdrew from the negotiations, as reported by Fabrizio Romano in his newsletter from Monday, June 5.
