AC Milan’s Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has decided to end his playing 24-year career in football, to officially announce his retirement at the age of 41 after a trophy-laden career at some of Europe’s top clubs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic brought the curtain down on a long, trophy-packed career on Sunday when he unexpectedly announced his retirement from football. During his 24 years, Ibrahimovic played 941 matches, scoring 555 goals, while making 226 other goals. Sweden’s all-time top scorer with 62 goals in 121 matches, he quit the national team after Euro 2016 but returned in 2021 for their unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign. Ibrahimovic won 32 titles in the stadiums, but he was unable to achieve the Champions League title that eluded him throughout his career. Ibrahimovic is Sweden's all-time top scorer with 62 goals in 121 games and has retired. Ibra is considered the oldest player in the Italian League, and he is the oldest player to score a goal in the history of the competition, at the age of forty-one and 166 days.
