Man United target Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper to compete with David de Gea

Press reports revealed that Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel while they attempt to sign David de Gea to a new deal, during the next summer Mercato. The Red Devils already have established No.1 David de Gea on their books, and he will be claiming at least a share of the Premier League Golden Glove award this season. The Spaniard is, however, seeing his current contract run down, and no extension to those terms has been agreed as yet. According to the English “The Independent”, UK daily newspaper founded in and published in London, Manchester United is considering signing Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Coppell. The newspaper added that although the Spanish goalkeeper, David De Gea, is close to signing a new deal on reduced terms before his contract expires next month, his status next season as United's main goalkeeper is uncertain due to his recent offers. There is some uncertainty over De Gea's future at Old Trafford, with the 32-year-old's current deal set to expire at the end of the season. Erik Ten Hag's side is expected to be in the market for a new keeper regardless of whether they can convince the Spaniard to stay at the club. The newspaper pointed out that although Ten Hag wants the Spanish goalkeeper to stay, he is also determined to create competition and ensure he has different tactical options.
