Arsenal's Highbury turns into a luxury residential complex
Highbury Square, the former home of Arsenal FC, has been transformed into a luxury residential complex after the club moved to the Emirates Stadium. Highbury Square is an apartment complex in Highbury, London. It is a redevelopment of the old Highbury Stadium site, the home stadium of Arsenal F.C. Highbury, officially called Arsenal Stadium, was the home of Arsenal FC between 1913 and 2006. In its final years, it had a capacity of 38,500 seats. In the early years of the 20th century, Arsenal played its matches at Manor Ground, which lay in the south of London near Greenwich, when then-chairman Henry Norris decided to move the club to the north of London. A plot of land was leased in the borough of Highbury, and a stadium got designed by Archibald Leitch. The first match at the stadium was played on the 6th of September 1913. The tie between Arsenal and Leicester Fosse was won by the home team 6-3. At that time the stadium consisted of one main stand and a series of terraces. In 1925 the ground got bought by Arsenal and seven years later a new grandstand consisting of two tiers was constructed. The stand could seat 4,000 people and had a standing capacity for 17,000 more. Three years of work led to 650 flats being carved out of the stadium's skeleton, totaling a value worth in the region of £ 500 million. Prices for each apartment range from an eye-watering £400k to a staggering £800k. A bust of legendary former Gunners manager Herbert Chapman remains in the same marble corridors which made Highbury so different from other English football grounds, while the players' tunnel still stands. Residents fortunate enough to call Highbury home can enjoy plush apartments, an on-site gym, underground parking, and 24-hour security. Arsenal narrowed the difference to one point with leaders Manchester City, while Arsenal fans flocked to praise the Real Madrid Odegaard deal, and among the comments: “I told you repeatedly that people do not fulfill his right,” and “it is the best deal for Arsenal,” also reads: “how Real sold him.” Madrid with 30 million pounds sterling?”, and “It is not real (not real?!).”
