Ancelotti’s First reaction: “Hopes Girona embarrassment is wake-up call for Real Madrid”!

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti slammed his players after they shipped 4 goals against Catalan minnows Girona just two weeks ahead of Manchester City battle. Carlo Ancelotti hopes Real Madrid's embarrassing 4-2 defeat away to Girona on Tuesday serves as a wake-up call.‘Our level was very low. We apologise, the team did not play at all,’ said the Madrid coach after watching the 4-2 defeat in Girona’s 13,000 stadium. ‘We were bad defensively and that was the key to the defeat,’ he added. ‘We were anxious and we relied on individual play.’ Madrid coach accepted that supporters will not be happy losing to a team that was playing in Spain’s second tier last season. ‘They will be hurt and angry as we are,’ he said of the supporters. ‘But we need to remember we are in a cup final and in a Champions League semi-final.’ Asked if the loss could be a wake-up call, Ancelotti said: "Yes, it can be, although a loss is never good. "I reiterate the importance of defensive commitment: if we have that, we will always win, and if not, it will cost us. That is the key, our key, and today we didn't have it. "Of the last seven games, we kept six clean sheets, and in this game, [we conceded] four goals. I hope my players have understood. If not, I will repeat it to them every day." Real Madrid manager  went on to say:”The team was nervous. I think this matter affected us. Vinicius tried to solve it individually.”
