Valverde admits to the police he 'punched' Alex after Villarreal beat Real Madrid

Villarreal midfielder Alex Baena has admitted to being punched by Real Madrid's Federico Valverde after Saturday's in La Liga meeting. After the match, reports quickly emerged stating Valverde had waited for Baena in the car park after the game and punched the Villarreal man in the face. Baena was later spotted with a swollen cheek and took to social media to confirm he had been punched, but vehemently denied taunting Valverde. Valverde is reported to the National Police to have punched Baena outside of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, following alleged remarks from the Villarreal full-back about the Uruguayan’s unborn child. In new developments, the Spanish "Al-Sharjito" program said that the police questioned Valverde about punching a Villarreal player and the player admitted the incident. The Spanish program indicated that Valverde's entourage contacted Alex Baena to tell him not to press charges, but the Villarreal player told them to first deny the words he said to Valverde's son. Reports claim to have reached out to Valverde's entourage, who confirmed the altercation and stated that Baena had been taunting Valverde about his wife's miscarriage scare earlier in the year - alleging the comments followed some malicious taunting from Baena during January's Copa del Rey clash between the two sides. Baena was later spotted with a swollen cheek and took to social media to confirm he had been punched, but vehemently denied taunting Valverde. The newspaper indicated that the police forces present at the scene intervened immediately, in order to end the crisis that erupted between the two players.
