For the third time, Referee Munuera for El Clasico between Real Madrid vs. Barcelona
The Spanish Football Federation appointed Sanchez Martinez Munuera as the man in charge of the return leg of the Copa del Rey Semifinals between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which will be played at Camp Nou next Wednesday. Munuera has been chosen as the referee for the third El Clasico of the season which ended 1-0. Martinez Monoeira leads the match assisted by Jose Luis Gonzalez Gonzalez as VAR video technology referee. He appears also as a second assistant: Miguel Martinez Monoeira, brother of the arena referee. In the other semi-final between Athletic Bilbao and Osasuna, Carlo del Cerro Grande appears as a field referee, and David Medie Jimenez appears as a video referee. Martinez Monoeira has managed El Clasico on only two occasions during his career. The 40-year-old referee made his debut in the October 2020 Clasico at Camp Nou without fans, and Real Madrid won that day, with three goals to one. As for the second El Clasico, it was in the league last season at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, and Barcelona won that day with four unanswered goals.
