Luis Figo: Real Madrid is not the favorite to win the Champions League

Real Madrid legend Luis Figo believes his former club the Royal is not the favorite to win the Champions League this season, as he feels that Los Blancos' potential semi-final opponents Bayern Munich or Manchester City could lift the title. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vicente del Bosque Academy, the Portuguese said: “In the Champions League, you always have to count on Real Madrid, but my favorite is between Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Inter Milan has it a little more complicated and my level of favoritism for them is a little lower”. Figo also indicated that another of his former club, Inter Milan, might not be among the favorites to win the Champions League: "Inter Milan is a bit more complicated and being a candidate for me is a bit less." Figo spent the last four years of his career with the Nerazzurri, making 140 appearances across all competitions scoring 11 goals and 29 assists. The Portuguese midfielder won four Serie A titles, an Italian Cup, and three Italian Super Cups. Before signing with Inter in 2005, he moved to Real Madrid for five years, after joining from arch-rivals Barcelona. Figo has played 245 times for Los Blancos, scoring 57 times and providing 92 assists, winning the Champions League once, while also claiming two La Liga titles and the UEFA Super Cup. Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich have all been fantastic in the Champions League this season, and deservedly qualified for the quarter-finals. Bayern is the only team to have won all eight of their matches in the competition so far, and the Bavarians beat Barcelona and Inter Milan in the group stage before beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 on aggregate in the round of 16. Real Madrid, meanwhile, lost to RB Leipzig in Group F, however, they won four of their other five matches to finish first before crushing Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate in the round of 16. Finally, City is unbeaten in the group stage with four wins, three of which came against Sevilla (twice) and Borussia Dortmund, and two draws, as they drew 1-1 with RB Leipzig in the first leg of the last-16, but beat the German side 7-0 in the second leg to qualify for the quarter-finals.
