Doha International Under-23 tournament kicks off today

 Doha International Under-23 tournament kicks off across Qatar’s stadiums today Wednesday. Competing in the tournament which features 10 Asian teams, host- Qatar will play alongside the likes of UAE, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait. Qatar's opening match will begin at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium at 10:00 p.m. The tournament system stipulates that it will be held in 3 rounds, each round will be held on a day, and each round will witness 5 matches to determine positions from 1 to 10, and accordingly, each team will play 3 matches. Participation in this international friendly tournament, which is being held for the first time in Qatar after the UAE hosted the past 5 editions, represents an important stage in the program for preparing the Olympic teams for the qualifiers for the AFC U-23 Championship, which will start in September 2023, and qualifies in turn for the Olympic Games in Paris. 2024. The first-round matches will kick off on Wednesday, as Iraq vs. Vietnam play, Oman vs. South Korea, Saudi Arabia against Thailand, Qatar faces the UAE, and Kuwait plays against Kyrgyzstan. The decisive matches will be in the third round, according to the results of the first and second rounds, to know the champion of the tournament and the rest of the ranking positions. It is noteworthy that the Doha International Championship will be held in 4 stadiums: Al-Ahly, Al-Duhail, Al-Gharafa, and Qatar.
