Sevilla ends Jorge Sampaoli as Sevilla head coach

Sevilla FC announced on Tuesday that it has sacked head coach Jorge Sampaoli due to poor results after a 2-0 La Liga defeat by Getafe on Sunday. A club statement on Tuesday read: “Sevilla FC has terminated the contract with its coach, Jorge Sampaoli, after the team’s defeat in Getafe, which has once again placed them on the verge of relegation places. "We have taken the decision to terminate Sampaoli's contract following the loss to Getafe which leaves us on the brink of the relegation zone," Sevilla said in a statement.
He has won 13 out of his 31 matches in charge this season, helping Sevilla reach the Europa League quarterfinals, where they will meet Manchester United, but their league form has hardly improved. He managed to get out of the lowest positions in the table since his incorporation as a coach and the image offered in the last matches of the team has led the club to make this decision, in search of a reaction in the twelve last days that remain to finish the league.
“Sevilla FC thanks Sampaoli for the services he has provided and wishes him the best of luck in his future.”
