Modric’s Real Madrid future in doubt

Spanish press reports revealed on Thursday that Real Madrid has not yet decided whether renewing the contract of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, which expires next June. The Spanish sports newspapers, Diario AS, reported that Modric played a great match against Liverpool in the Champions League, as he showed that he could still play at a high level in matches. The newspaper added that Modric's contract renewal continues to be on halt, because Real Madrid is still firm in its strategy. They will wait until the end of the season to decide whether to offer him a contract extension or not. AS explained that Real Madrid's targets is to sign the English player despite the difficulties of the process, in this way if all the midfielders are renewed, there will be an extra player in the team with the presence of Kroos, Ceballos, Bellingham and Modric. The newspaper wrapped-up that the result of the Champions League will again be the factor that determines Real Madrid's plan with Modric, who makes you feel that he deserves renewal, not because of his career, but because of his performance. Luka Modric helped control play for the hosts, and Ancelotti puts that down to Liverpool's playing style, which has brought plenty of success and trophies to Anfield in recent years but has not been as efficient this season.Luka Modric’s 11th season as a Real Madrid player could be his final one, with the 37-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Croatian international appears to show no signs of retiring yet, having been called up by his national ahead of the beginning of their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign later this month. However, it could be his final international break as a Real Madrid player.
