A Look Inside... Did PSG see significant benefits from Neymar?

Neymar Da Silva is having a tough year starting with Paris Saint-Germain. He has been in the midst of controversy because of his frequent injuries. Neymar’s season officially ended with Paris Saint-Germain, following his injury and undergoing surgery on his right ankle.
On 3 August 2017, Barcelona announced that Neymar's legal representatives made a payment of €222 million to the club, equal to the release clause of his contract, which constituted the most expensive transfer ever.
Neymar missed many of the Parisian team's matches due to injury. Since joining PSG in 2017, Neymar has missed more than 100 games due to injuries. The South American developed the odd sickness in the initial months of his stay in France, but a broken metatarsal in February 2018 ended a rookie season at PSG early.
He spent many weeks in the hospital after suffering a similar injury in January 2019, and hamstring issues prevented him from playing in the 2019–20 season. Since then, adductor problems have sadly become regular, and the attacker has consistently struggled with ankle problems.
To put that into some kind of context, the forward has only played 130 times in all competitions since arriving, which will translate to far less than 60 percent of all of PSG’s games.
The Brazilian has never once played more than 20 of PSG’s 38 Ligue 1 matches in his five seasons at the club. In three of the four previous campaigns, he has featured in less than 50 percent of Ligue 1 games.
Since joining PSG, Neymar has played with the team only 55% of the total matches played by the Parisian in various official competitions, compared to his absence from 45% of the matches due to the curse of injuries that have followed him since his move to France in the summer of 2017.
During the six seasons that Neymar spent with PSG, he played 173 matches, while with Barcelona he played 186 matches in four seasons only, meaning that he played with Barca 13 more matches, although the opposite is what should have happened and by a wide margin.
With the exception of the 2019-2020 season during which Neymar achieved good performances that culminated in the team reaching the Champions League final without suffering health problems, such frequent injuries affected his presence in the PSG’s squad.
