The Spanish club Real Madrid celebrates its 121st anniversary on Monday. On 6 March 1902, the first Board of Directors of the Madrid Football Club was officially elected. That was the beginning of the legacy of the best club in the world. 121 years later, Real Madrid is a benchmark in world sport with its 24 European Cups (14 in football and 10 in basketball) and boasts the honor of being named by FIFA as the Greatest Club of the 20th Century. The last year has proven to be highly successful, with three major international trophies: the Champions League, the Club World Cup, and the Uefa Super Cup. The Decimocuarta was secured after defeating Liverpool in the final and after some stunning comebacks at the Bernabéu. The Uefa Super Cup saw the Whites beat Eintracht Frankfurt in Helsinki, and the Club World Cup in Morocco enhances Real Madrid's supremacy as the club with the most World Cup trophies in the world. In addition to these three trophies, Ancelotti's side also triumphed brilliantly in La Liga. Benzema, whose performances go down in Real Madrid's history and helped him claim the last Ballon d'Or, deserves a special mention. Real Madrid was held to a 0-0 draw against Real Betis as they suffered another blow to their La Liga title hopes at the “Pinto Villamarin” stadium, in the 24th round of the La Liga championship.
