Brazil thumps up Italy's request for former AC Milan  striker serve 9 years prison sentence

The judicial authorities in Brazil agreed to former AC Milan and Brazil striker Robinho serving a nine-year prison sentence for rape while he was in the ranks of Milan. In a statement, the Brazilian ministry confirmed it has received such a request without naming the player. Robinho's defense lawyer could not be reached for comment. The Spanish “Cadena Coupe” network explained that Carlos Frederico Santos, the Brazilian deputy public prosecutor, confirmed in a letter to the Court of Justice in Brazil that the authorities supported the former player’s commitment to the ruling issued by the Brazilian judiciary, imprisoning him for 9 years on charges of rape. Santos said, “With regard to the situation, there is no legal impediment to transferring the execution of the sentence, given the impossibility of extraditing the player to Italy due to a Brazilian constitutional principle, we agree to the ruling and serving the sentence here,” which is the first step to agreeing to serve the prison sentence for the player in Brazil. He added, “The approval of the player serving a prison sentence in Brazil is based on respecting the principle that no two penalties are applied for the same crime, and in that case, the player will be notified of the prison in which he will serve his sentence.”
